Instagram Will Now Let You Tag Friends, Add Links and Create Boomerangs in Stories

Instagram has finally raised the bar high this time. The Facebook-owned platform launched few features to Instagram Stories, which will allow the users to tag friends, add links and create short videos that can be played forwards and backwards on a loop. The updates, which which were launched few days back are the biggest updates we have seen, on a photo and video sharing platform, after Snapchat launched it’s copycat channel in August. Facebook even stated that they took this idea from Snapchat which has been making great progress both in terms of users and advertising money.

This new feature by Instagram has never been seen before in any type of video product, before this it only existed in the caption area below a photo. With this upgrade, now when a user adds a mention inside of an Instagram Stories video, the viewer can click on the mentioned user which will reveal a pop-up that will lead to their profile. The person tagged will be notified in their Direct Messages inbox every time they have been tagged in a video.

The addition of links, which is right now only available for few verified users, will let viewers click on a link to open a page inside the app.

A blog post by Instagram explained this new features clearly, “From discovering the latest music by Chance the Rapper (@chancetherapper) to learning about a new movie starring Dwayne Johnson (@therock) or reading a related article from Bustle (@bustle), tap “See More” or swipe up to view the link right inside the app.”
